1. The last few weeks has seen much great art and design work come through the digital media studio in time for the final assessments. These include fine art and architecture films, photography of printed graphics and illustrations on some lovely stock; 3D models, recorded VJ sets and fashion photography on mass. This image is an example of some long shutter work that was done in one of the fashion shoots along with multiple exposure work, high and low key, and butterfly/beauty dish shoots. All in all its been a fantastic couple of weeks. I hope you’re all coming to the degree show.

  2. We’re filming using our large Lasolite light box today. Graphic Design students are in, creating a show real of their printed products. This particular student has made a publication on an antique collection of ceramic animals. The book comes in a clamshell box lined with tissue paper. The cover is risograph printed and you can see the finished article at this years degree show. This show real allows people to see the insides and all the pages with the emphasis on the finished product rather than the computer design files.

  3. Apps are being demoed today in the Digital Media Studio for a submission to a self directed module in Graphic Design. The proposed functionality is being filmed on the Ipad using the rostrum and the Canon studio camera. This is then being imported to Final Cut Studio and 720 web videos are going up to Vimeo. Maybe this could lead to some interesting app development. Fashion photo shoots and architecture Heliodon work is still going strong with deadlines coming up this week. Good luck everybody!

  4. We had an open day for Architecture today involving a demonstration on the Heliodon from the Equator to the North Poll. Our trusty Globe Theatre was used to demonstrate the paths of the sun throughout the year on the south bank of the River Thames at 51.5 degrees, showing you how light moves within a building and shadows move outside of it. Further discussions were had regarding making eco friendly cities by utilising the low sun to warm structures in the winter months thus minimising energy bills. We also demoed the micro inspection cameras for use inside 1:50 models and to give a street view on 1:500 models showing you how the shadows generated by buildings affect each other through shading etc. We hope all our visitors enjoyed themselves and come back to see us again soon.

  5. We have been so busy the past few weeks doing photo shoots and web design. The photo shoots including full length, head shots and portraiture are being done by the Fashion Design and Communication students for the 3rd Year final submissions. Graphic Design and Illustration students have also been in doing much work on the rostrum to document prints, books, booklets, flyers and portfolios. Fine Art Masters students are in doing web design with advanced CSS and JavaScript. It’s all go!
